Book Review - Snail Mail

Last week I was sent this book to read (cue lots of excitement - I do love a good book and I knew I'd love this one!)

Focusing on beautiful letter writing, this book is illustrated with photos of gorgeous letters, recipes, craft projects, packages, washi tape and stationery - it's REALLY inspiring to see such effort and gorgeous creations throughout, here are a couple of peeks at some of my favourite bits...

 

 

This has given me lots of inspiration for future craft projects, I'll be sharing soon! Whether you're looking for step by step projects or just a coffee table inspiration book, if you love crafts, stationery and / or letter writing, this is the book for you!

Sneak Peeks! New Craft Kits

If you are on my Facebook page, you may have already seen a few little peeks I've been sharing this week, but I wanted to post them all here too for those of you who aren't!

Firstly, my new Storybook Craft Kit, contains a Cinderella storybook (rewritten and illustrated by me!) as well as everything you need to make a Cinderella doll and 2 outfits - her raggedy outfit and her ballgown...

Book Review - Everything Oz

Recently, I was lucky enough to be sent a preview copy of a new Craft book called 'Everything Oz' to read and review...

The book contains lots of creative projects and things to make and bake - if you love the Wizard of Oz as much as I do, then this book is an absolute 'must have'! Every once in a while a book comes along that I think 'wow, this must have been fun to write / produce / illustrate' and this is definitely one of those books. With lots of diverse projects, from making your own Ruby slippers to baking your own little 'Toto' some treats, it's just great, I can't wait to get time to do all of them!

Today I tried out the 'Toto's Treats' dog biscuits and got baking for Fuzzybutt - she is one spoilt pooch, I know! I made a few extra for B's brothers dog too, I couldn't leave her out. I couldn't find my bone shaped cookie cutter (yes, I do have one, how sad is that, lol) so I made little 'B's (for Belle) and F's (for Fuzzybutt) and M's for my BIL's dog Millie...

They were really simple to make, just a few minutes and Fuzzybutt loved them, look at her licking her lips! lol

Its nice to find a good homebaked treat for her as I do worry sometimes about the ingredients in the ones you buy in the shops - they seem so manufactured and artificial whereas I know exactly what is in these ones and can even choose to make different flavours now by adjusting the recipe a bit - no more icky fake treats for my girl :o)

Now I'm off to rustle up a quick dinner for me and B before he starts moaning about how I only cook for the dog, hahaha. Then later tonight I have some fun emails to send... *wink wink*

An Interesting Book...

Last week when I went to meet my friends for drinks I met a friend of theirs whos wife was an art teacher, naturally we got chatting about illustration and all that kind of thing and he told me about a book his wife had given him when they met called 'Love' he loved this book so much that he actually went home to get it so he could show it to me and lent it to me so I could take some pics to share!

It's full of these really quirky illustrations....

and cut out pages that give you a little peek to the next page...

and interesting page shapes and colours...

 

I fell completely in love with this book! The pages are so bright and vibrant and the colour placement has been really well thought out, the little cut outs and interesting page shapes keep it really fun but the story is actually really touching and a little bit sad.

I can't wait for my own copy to arrive! You can get yours here, this is a more up to date version and I'm dying to see how it's changed since the one above which was from the 60's.
