Create & Craft Gorjuss Sepia Card

Thank you to everyone that tuned in to my Promarker show on Create & Craft Saturday, it was lovely of you to watch and send me messages ( I had lots of lovely ones, thank you!) email in etc... :o) I wanted to show one of the cards I had on display, this is actually the one I demo'ed first with the Sepia effect...
I used the Tawny Owl Promarker from the Autumn Promarkers and March Hare from the Spring Set (if you ordered the big set you'll have both in there!) along with a Satin Flexmarker - but you could use any very pale cream Flexmarker or Promarkers, its just to get the highlights in the centre without leaving hard edges.

Here is a little close up...
The Gorjuss girl stamp is one of my favourites, but I had used it so much I was starting to find it difficult to make it look new and different, by using a new colour scheme, I gave my stamp a new lease of life! :o)

Now, I must be get on with some packing, I'm off to visit my little sisters and parents for a couple of days for Halloween - but I will be back in a day or so with some Ghoulish pictures and later in the week I'll have a little freebie for you.

Thanks for dropping by today!

p.s. I must just remind you about submissions for the Lookbook magazine Volume 2 - you can see all the details here, don't miss out!!

Create & Craft, Letraset & a Woodland Frame...

Firstly, a little bit of news, it was confirmed today that I will be back on Create & Craft this Saturday with another Letraset Promarker show at 9am (yay!) I hope you can tune in and watch / record / email in - will try and cram in as much demo-ing as possible, I'm off to my studio later to start prepping, so any requests, just shout (or leave me a comment / send me a message, probably better!)

Secondly, one of the projects I was asked about most that was shown on last weeks shows was this Woodland Frame...
The frame was a plain wooden one from a homeware store, I lightly sanded it and then coloured with the Tawny Owl Promarker from the new Autumn Promarker set. When it was dry, I gave it a second coat and when that was dry I used a flexmarker to draw in the woodgrain pattern.
I then stamped the images (these are from the Woodland Folk range from Docrafts) onto bleedproof paper and coloured using the Autumn set of Promarkers and the Lime Twist from the Summer Set.
I then used the Antique White Flexmarker to give a soft fuzzy effect to the little furry creatures (you may have seen me demo this technique on Create & Craft last week)
Once the frame was dry I pieced everything together on a cloud sponged background, made with Distress Ink, with a freehand cut paper hill, using sticky dots and 3D foam / glue dots for dimension.

I think I covered all the questions I had but if you have any other questions about this project just leave them here and I'll do my best to answer them or add more details - if there are lots I might just show the answers on Create & Craft at the weekend :o)

Thanks so much for dropping by today!

Halloween Treat Bag / Box - Free SVG File!

Two posts in one day - whatever next! So... my for my second post of the day, today I have a free SVG / Silhouette cutting file to share with you...

You can use this as a bag by scoring down the middle of each side panel and squeezing it in at the top securing with a sticker or some velcro or as a box by scoring the lid to fold over the top. I popped a little orange paper bag inside mine, it highlights the wording and makes sure its secure to hold little sweets like jelly beans if you want to give them out at a Halloween party or to trick or treaters - or just pretend you're not in and eat them all yourself, I don't do that though, honest... ;o)

You can see more of my die cutting designs (and my other craft products) here in my shop or here in the Silhouette online store.

If you're looking for more info on my Create & Craft shows this week, please scroll down and have a look at my earlier post.

Inspiration Sunday with Craft Superstore

A few weeks ago, Craft Superstore asked me to take part in their 'Inspiration Sunday' newsletter using some DCWV paper stacks. I love Craft Superstore and DCWV - they were some of the first papers I ever used! so of course I said yes immediately and whipped up this quilted card for them...
I used squares of paper from the Hippie Chic and Citrus stacks, trimmed with pinking shears, and sewn together by hand. I then added a Gorjuss girl stamped image coloured with Promarkers, I love this stamp purely because she's wearing a really nice coat and I have a thing for nice coats! lol. I used a stamped greeting (I think from Hero Arts) which I punched out with a circle punch.

Now I must be off, but I will be back tomorrow, and I think I'll have some exciting news to share *fingers crossed* ;o)

Sarah Hurley Greeting Cards at NotOnTheHighStreet.com

I've been mentioning how the new products I'm working on so I thought today I would share with you a small selection from the new range of greeting cards, available from my notonthehighstreet.com shop.

These are the Storybook cards...
You may recognise some elements from my Storybook scrapbooking kit! There are three in this set featuring my Storybook illustrations - Red Riding Hood, Cinderella and Snow White and the Seven Dwarves.

Secondly, the Woodland set and my personal favourite!
These have a cute deer, some loved up foxes and a family of little fuzzy owls!

and last but not least... one of the many Christmas cards! This one is called Eskimo Love...
You can see the full range of currently available products in my NOTHS shop, and there are more on their way! I'm currently working on my first brochure to go out to card and gift retailers - eeeek! how exciting is that?? (If you are a card shop or retailer anywhere in the world and would like a copy when its ready later this week, please click here and send me your details to be added to my mailing list)

I have some other fun products coming soon too, both craft and card / gift - I can't wait to share!

Today has been super stressful for me as I have deadlines up to my eyeballs and I had my house rewired so no power, 3 strange men in my house, Fuzzybutt having a full on anxiety nightmare because of the strange people - she literally squeaked and whined from 8am until they left at 6, between the squeaking, drilling, banging, radios, stress and anxiety, never has my head pounded so much. I'm so pleased to have my peaceful little sanctuary back so I can get back to work this evening!

Now I must get myself another cup of Earl Grey and get back to my Wacom!

Thank you so much for dropping by today

Doodle Canvas

Today a quick and messy project to share! I've had a pack of these mini natural unbleached canvases hanging around for a while, I kept looking at them but couldn't get inspired. As I mentioned, my mojo completely disappeared for most of last week, so I grabbed one of these canvases and just started messing around - I figured if I messed it up, I could just throw it away! In the end I was quite pleased with it...
I started by swiping over with some white distress stain just to lighten the dark colour slightly and make sure the stamping and doodling stood out. I then misted through a mask with some white Mr Huey (not realising the canvas had a bit of a coating) the coating caused it to blur so I dabbed it off with a kitchen towel leaving a mottled effect.

When that was dry I stamped the girl and the cat (these stamps are from Prima, I picked them up at Ally Pally!) using Staz on Ink. I also stamped the chevon borders (those are from Sodalicious) I then doodled around the edge of the canvas to create a scallop border and doodled some stars and dots over the whole canvas. When everything was dry I used my Neon Promarkers (obsessed with these at the moment!!) to add some flashes of colour.

As a finishing touch I added some glossy accents in sections and swiped the Staz on ink pad all around the edge of the canvas.

It's a bit quirky and 'art journaly' but I think thats what I like about it! It now lives on a little easel in my craft room :o)
