Scrap365 & Silhouette / GraphtecUK

Today I was flicking through the latest issue of Scrap365 magazine and this caught my eye...

At the end of last year Karine at Graphtec had asked if she could use a pic of one of my scrapbook layouts for an ad she was doing, of course I said yes, and here it is!

This is the layout...
and a few close ups...

This was made using the Documented365 range and my instagram pictures along with a few other bits and pieces, I think it's one of my favourite recent layouts, it makes me realise how much I've missed scrapbooking these last few weeks when I've been too busy to do any - must make some studio time this week!

Today has been a very busy day, I had a visitor from a print company that I use who filmed a little behind the scenes video here at Hurley HQ and then I spent the afternoon working on lots of new things, there are so many exciting new things in the pipeline, it literally makes my tummy flip to think about it all!

Now I must be off, I'm going to have dinner with B tonight as due to C&C last week, my sister staying over the weekend and a very busy start to the week, I've barely seen him or Fuzzybutt, I will be back to the drawing board later though!

Thank you for dropping by today!

Silhouette Valentine Card & Blog Hop News!

Today I promised to share the project I made with yesterdays giveaway SVG file, here it is, a cute and simple valentine card...
Supply List - Sarah Hurley Silhouette Shapes - Valentine Heart (please see previous post) and Kissing Couple (available from the Silhouette store), Card Blank, kraft card, white card - Craftwork Cards, Heart Paper, Grace Taylor Vintage Romance  (available from Trimcraft Stockists), Stripe Paper - Magnolia, 3D foam, Red Flexmarker

I cut the heart twice - once with the wording in the centre on a red and white striped paper and once without the wording on, as a solid shape, from white paper. I also used one of my other Silhouette shapes, this cute kissing couple, cutting it out of kraft card.

I layered the hearts together with 3D foam but I didn't like the way the stripes looked against the heart paper and I didn't think the wording stood out enough, so I used a red flexmarker to carefully colour in the top heart - you can still see the stripes but it's a more subtle tone on tone look now and the bold red stands out much better against the hearts,  you can also see the wording much more clearly!

Also, I wanted to let you know, that we are holding a Blog Hop to celebrate the launch of my new website, for all the details and to join in, please click here or pop back here on Saturday!

Halloween Treat Bag / Box - Free SVG File!

Two posts in one day - whatever next! So... my for my second post of the day, today I have a free SVG / Silhouette cutting file to share with you...

You can use this as a bag by scoring down the middle of each side panel and squeezing it in at the top securing with a sticker or some velcro or as a box by scoring the lid to fold over the top. I popped a little orange paper bag inside mine, it highlights the wording and makes sure its secure to hold little sweets like jelly beans if you want to give them out at a Halloween party or to trick or treaters - or just pretend you're not in and eat them all yourself, I don't do that though, honest... ;o)

You can see more of my die cutting designs (and my other craft products) here in my shop or here in the Silhouette online store.

If you're looking for more info on my Create & Craft shows this week, please scroll down and have a look at my earlier post.

Star Lanterns - Free SVG Cutting File!

Today I have a free SVG Silhouette cutting file for you all! This time a Star Lantern... I made this as a prop for some photography I'm doing, and loved them so much I thought I'd share!

I made two, one actual size and then I reduced it to around 75% to make a second, I cut them from premium copy paper - around 90gsm - you don't want anything too thick or the light won't shine through, but not too thin or it won't be sturdy enough to stand up! I then popped a battery operated tealight in each to give them a lovely glow, they would make gorgeous Christmas decorations or table centrepieces. I also used the cut out stars as confetti - I love stars and couldnt just throw them away!

You can see more of my Silhouette designs here in the Silhouette online store or here in my own store (where you can also see my other designs and craft products)

Thanks so much for dropping by today!

You are a Star! Free Silhouette Cutting File!

Happy Bank Holiday!

I mentioned in my last post that if you popped back today, I'd have a little surprise for you, and here it is, another freebie! This time it's a Silhouette cutting file (SVG format) and this is the first one I've given away!

Here is a card I made with it, using paper from my Britannia CD, kraft card, a small glassine pocket with star confetti and some washi tape.
I put the confetti inside the glassine envelope and run a thin line of glossy accents along the top (it gives that lovely ruched effect when you do that!) then secured it to the paper with a few dots of glossy accents before stitching along the top with gold thread to secure in place properly. Then just two small pieces of washi tape and the added the die cut on 3D foam :o) Here a couple of close ups (you can click on them to make them bigger)
You could add it to a card, smash book or scrapbook page! I'd love to see what you make with it, you can share your creations with me by leaving your link here in the comments or posting them over on my Facebook page.

You can see more of my Silhouette designs here in the Silhouette online store or here in my own store (where you can also see my other designs and craft products)

Lights, Camera, Snooze!

This week has been another crazy one at Hurley HQ, as you may have read in my previous post, I launched my new Craft CD, Retro Home, earlier this week, my lovely Design Team have been putting together some great projects and I can't wait to share (first one Monday, promise!)

On Wednesday, I was off to London filming again for the new Kirstie Allsopp show coming to Channel 4 later this year (Kirstie's Vintage Home). I took my lovely friend Emma with me and we had such a fun (but long!) day, I was so exhausted I was in bed and asleep by 9 o'clock that night - if you know about my insomnia issues, you'll know how much of a big deal that was for me! lol

While I was filming I managed to get one card finished - very difficult as literally everyone on set, including, or should I say 'especially' lol, Kirstie, wants to play with Promarkers, such fun sharing my love of them with everyone! One guy on set even remembered me as 'Promarker Girl' - thats my new superhero name - I'm here to save people from colour-less lives, hahaha!

I also got to use some of the fab stickers Rico sent me - they're like Fuzzy Felts (you may remember them if you're an 80s child like me!) I just love them and I think they worked well with this little card...
I did manage to get some other images coloured though so I have another couple to make into cards when I get some studio time, I desperately need to do that as I have magazine and client design projects piling up - this weekend I'm locking myself in there and not coming out for anyone! lol

I have also been working on some new designs and illustrations, some for my new products and some for clients. I've also had lots more of my designs added to the Silhouette online shop - yay! - you can see them all here.

Don't forget, our Design Team call is still running! Scroll down for more details :o)

Thanks so much for popping by today
