Watercolour Scrapbooking with Inktense

Today I wanted to share with you my Derwent blog project from last month, I used the fabulous Inktense blocks and an Instagram picture to create a scrapbook page about my Momiji Doll collection...
I used the blocks to add a strip of colour across the top, going from purple through to blue, I then sprayed along the top with water and held the paper at an angle so the colour dripped down.
I did actually get my first attempt wrong trying to be impatient and drying with my heat gun, but it just blew the colour all over the page *sigh* so my top tip, is to leave it to dry overnight! It didn't go to waste though, I cut that piece down and used it as the mat pieces behind my picture!

I also used the blocks to colour in the wooden embellishments and alphabet - the colours are so bright and they are permanent when dry.

I think my Inktense obsession is starting to show, not bad for someone who was scared of watercolouring just a year ago!

Scrap365 & Silhouette / GraphtecUK

Today I was flicking through the latest issue of Scrap365 magazine and this caught my eye...

At the end of last year Karine at Graphtec had asked if she could use a pic of one of my scrapbook layouts for an ad she was doing, of course I said yes, and here it is!

This is the layout...
and a few close ups...

This was made using the Documented365 range and my instagram pictures along with a few other bits and pieces, I think it's one of my favourite recent layouts, it makes me realise how much I've missed scrapbooking these last few weeks when I've been too busy to do any - must make some studio time this week!

Today has been a very busy day, I had a visitor from a print company that I use who filmed a little behind the scenes video here at Hurley HQ and then I spent the afternoon working on lots of new things, there are so many exciting new things in the pipeline, it literally makes my tummy flip to think about it all!

Now I must be off, I'm going to have dinner with B tonight as due to C&C last week, my sister staying over the weekend and a very busy start to the week, I've barely seen him or Fuzzybutt, I will be back to the drawing board later though!

Thank you for dropping by today!

Washi Tape Love

The last few weeks I've become slightly obssessed with Washi Tape - between my lovely Rico stash and some that I've been tempted by from the girls on the Facebook Smash Book group I've built up quite a collection! I've been using it in my books and journals but hadn't been brave enough to use it in my Scrapbooking, until now!
Supply List - Bazzill Basics Cardstock - Cream Puff & Almond Cream, Basic Grey Basics white 6x6 paper pad, Coredinations Cosmo Cricket Cardstock, Woodgrain & Teal Stripe Washi tape - Angel Cards, Buttons & Market Street Alpha Stickers - October Afternoon, Glitter Alpha Stickers - Dovecraft, Cricut Expression & Princess Cartridge - Provocraft, Twine - The Twinery

It was great to use as an accent in place of ribbon or banners as I did here.

This layout kind of put itself together, it didn't seem like work, from the vintagey style Instagram pic of Fuzzybutt, the muted tones and the perfectly coordinating tape, it just flowed, and I so enjoyed making it, I even used a bit of my treasured Basic Grey Basics paper which I very rarely use as I love it so so much and dread running out of it!

I cut the Hexagons with my Cricut using the Princess Cartridge (its the background for one of the alphabets on there) and added some buttons and twine.

It was great to get a bit of crafty time over the weekend, in amongst a bit of work, catching up with friends, baking a ham (more about that another day!) and doing some writing, so fun!

I also found out today that something I've been working really hard on and keeping super secret will be launching one month today on the 28th June - I'm beyond excited and can't wait to share!

Now I must get back, I promised to cook B dinner tonight and if I don't make a start soon it will be beans on toast! LOL

Thanks for popping by

April Round Up

I can't believe that today is the first day of May! How quickly the year is flying by, its frightening... Here is a little round up of all the excitement of April through my instax pics...

My Britannia CD was released, I say it every time, but this is my current favourite and I'm loving making things with it!
My desk looked like this for much of the month - eeeek! and I was featured on Fuji's Choose Film website (yay!)

Of course, I can't forget Easter, I indulged in a few too many choccie treats - oooopsie!

I started cooking again and got much better this time! and had pretty nails a couple of times (before ruining them with alcohol ink / paint etc...)

I got messy with Art Journaling and got to open a brand new pack of Derwent Aquatones...

I can't miss out a couple of cute pics of Fuzzybutt of course!
I had some super super exciting news (which you will know if you follow my Facebook page) I will be sharing it here on my blog soon though, promise! and last but not least, I'm a whole month closer to being able to tell you what this is for...
I've been keeping this secret way too long, I think I'll burst from secrets one day!!

Of course as well as all this I've been working on brand new shiny things which you will see on my blog soon, launched the Craft Basics & Scrap Basics collections (which you can see in my shop) working on new designs, magazine projects and lots of frantic sketching and writing, its a crazy busy time, my desk is full, my studio is full and I'm relying on disco naps to get me through the day - of course my insomnia is still raging, how else would I get everything done! lol, saying all that, I wouldn't have it any other way, its a fabulous busy tiring rollercoaster but very exciting and super fun!

Thanks for dropping by to catch up on what I've been up to.

Monthly (ish) Round Up!

I know its not quite the end of March yet but I haven't done a 'My Month in Pictures' post for a while so here we go, lots of instagrams...

I had indulged with a few treats, a cheeky glass of wine and some choccy while working late and cupcakes with a good friend to celebrate. I started working on my family History project with Ancestry.co.uk - one of my most exciting projects yet! I became obsessed with Hero Arts stamps and Art Journaled a LOT! Fuzzybutt was cute - thats old news really, she always is! :o) I worked a LOT! and discovered this old pic of me working when I was just a tiddler - thats probably why I'm such a workaholic now, I started young! I'm still writing and researching and designs for my new products are underway even before the current ones have finished production - its a crazy manically busy time and there is more excitement on the horizon that I can't wait to share!

Today I have been to the doctors yet again (thats twice in less than a week!) this time because I woke up with my face swollen hugely on one side (it was even affecting my eye!) it went down a bit over the course of the day but the doctor says I have an infection above my gum, under my cheekbone - I'm now on a super strong course of antibiotics for a week to get rid of it, hopefully in the next day or two I'll get my real face back!

Now I'm back to the drawing board as I have lots of big deadlines due this week - eeeeeek!

Thanks for popping by

Mid Week Madness!

So this week has been kind of a crazy one so far (details another time!) but I'm so happy that today I got the last package of my CHA samples in the post - yay! I will be sharing them just as soon as I can, although as a little sneaky preview I will show you all of these cute Instagrams of Fuzzybutt that I used for one of them...
To celebrate finishing ahead of schedule, I treated myself by wearing my most impractical sparkly shoes today...
Now I just need to tidy my studio (I compromised today by just shutting the door, I couldn't face it! lol)

I've also been getting the last few bits ready for the first Craft Academy lesson tomorrow - excited!
