Letraset Promarker Ultra Fine Nibs
A few weeks ago Letraset sent me some of these lovelies to test and blog about - the new Ultra Fine Nibs!
I've been using them but haven't got round to the bloggy bit yet, so here we go! These clip over the end of your Promarkers (at the smaller bullet tip end) and create and much more detailed nib for your colouring or drawing. You can see from the strokes here (Chisel nib, bullet nib and the new Ultra Fine Nib)
I found my own design stamp of the Gingerbread House (from the Christmas Cheer set) as I knew it had lots of fine detail, I remember making samples for the shows and struggling a little bit with the colouring of this one, I was using a 'dotting' technique to get the colour as precise as possible and correcting any mistakes with a white or colour gel pen, I knew if the new ultra fine nibs could tackle this challenge I'd be sold! This is one of my favourite ever stamps and I make lots of my Christmas cards with it so it's important to me to be able to get the colouring right!
First I stamped the image onto Rymans coated card using a Memento ink pad so I knew there would be no bleeding or smudging, the I started to colour the main part of the house, starting with my darkest shade first into the shadow areas. The one on the left is with the normal fine end of the pen and the one on the right is with the ultra fine nib attached...
If you click on the pictures you can see closely, there is some slight bleeding on the normal nib (I would normally have covered this over with a white gel pen and added stickles to hide it) and the one on the right has no bleeding at all - I've managed to get right into those detailed areas as well!
The places on this image that I've struggled with previously are the detail round the door and the window frame, again some comparisons with the normal nib on the left and the ultra fine nib on the right... (you can click on the images to make them bigger)
Here is the final image, again coloured with just the normal Promarker on the left and with the Ultra fine nibs on the right
As you can see, once complete there probably isn't an awful lot of difference unless you look very closely, but being a bit of a perfectionist every smudge to me looks 200% bigger than it actually is, so these new nibs are fantastic, it just gives your colouring in that extra bit of polish and more professional results - try them now, you get free nibs with every purchase of Promarkers either directly from Letraset or through selected retailers - check your local art or craft shop for details!
And finally, here is the card I made from the final coloured image... (the perfect one of course!)
The papers are the lovely TPC studios 'Christmas Village' range, contact Bramwells for stockists.

Have been hard at work today on some fab new products for the New Year (which is scarily close now!) but I'm off to try and reclaim the remote control in time for X-Factor now, it's completely off limits at the weekend when OH has a 2 day sport marathon - I did ask if today we could watch Footballers Wives instead of Football, but apprently it's 'not the same thing'.......
Tomorrow I must making some Christmas Cards, so far I have a grand total of......... one! eeeeeeeekkkkkk!

Snow?
As yet, no snow in my part of the world, although we are assured by the MET office it will be here tomorrow! On one hand I love the snow, it's so pretty! but on the other hand it's so disruptive! Fingers crossed, it comes, lasts for a day and melts away leaving no trace.... ha! Fuzzybutt has been on snow watch, although right now she is curled up next to me on "inside of eyelids" watch zzzzzz....
This weekend I made my first Christmas card (finally!) using my Christmas Cheer! stamps and of course Kraft cardstock! I have SO many to make, I'm so behind! I also have my Christmas Wreath to make and some other bits and pieces to make the place a bit more festive!

Tonight I am cooking (please pray for us....) i'm going to do risotto again, I managed it last week, it was very nice and no-one died so thats always good (you can never be too sure when I'm cooking!) to say I'm undomesticated is an understatement!

Woooooooooooo!
So today I got some of my REALLY good news confirmed and I can tell all tomorrow - yay!
I have to admit the email came at the exact right time, today I was feeling a bit yucky, despite getting a good nights sleep and all that I woke up feeling weary and achy - it makes me so angry that I never know how I going to feel I just have to ride the wave and see what happens! My MIL took me shopping and I got a pink doughnut which did lift my spirits somewhat and I managed to get myself back to working this afternoon which I LOVE. I love to work so much and find it sooooo frustrating when I can't! this afternoon I was working on an article I have been asked to write about domestic violence, this is not an easy thing for me to do but I know it will help to raise awareness and so I'm determined to do it! Just as I'm feeling a bit sad and a bit blue and a few tears, the email lands in my inbox, shortly followed by a funny from my sister Taz who always seems to have a knack for sending me a funny email or text just when I need it - she says its because we're psychopathic - I say she needs a dictionary :o)
The countdown to Christmas has begun, snow is on its way (apparently) and my mum is giving me daily updates on pressie deliveries, food situation etc etc... I cant believe we are now counting down in days rather than weeks! You know its close to Christmas when M&S start selling their festive loo roll - voila!......

Last week I got a huuuuge box of goodies from A Cherry on Top in the USA. I finally got my hands on the lovely Paris Anthology line from Pink Paislee - I had the stamps already but none of the "stuff" so now I have "stuff" too - the flowers and papers are just gorgeous! I love the album and I just can't wait to use it all!

I also finally got hold of the October Afternoon 'Modern Homemaker' range - I've been waiting for this since I saw the sneaks!! and some of the Cosmo Circa 1934 range. A BIG thanks to Vanessa at Papermaze for being so quick with getting it to me and adding stuff I'd forgotten to my order afterwards - I'm a nightmare customer! LOL Can't wait to get around to playing with all this stuff, have soooo many projects to get done so all this will be gone very soon!!

Happy Mail!
After a pretty yukky Thursday I woke up to happy mail on Friday (will share soon!) yay!
Today I'm spending the whole day drawing, I seem to have so many ideas lately that I just can't get them all down!
I got a little parcel today from Eyeko which cheered me up, if you've used Eyeko you will know how fab their products are - so fab in fact that I signed up to be an ambassador (if you use the code E11890 when you order you get a free gift!) - and I NEVER do things like that!! Their Fat Balms are great as I hate to wear lipstick but I'm so pale I look like the undead if I dont wear something! and their shimmery face cream stuff can make your skin look amazing even when you feel like death warmed up! Today I got the nude nail polish - already on my fingers - and the toffee fat balm - smells lush!
I also need to get started on making my Christmas cards soon, can't believe we are halfway through November already! I'm so excited to start writing in my Christmas Journal and dig into the Advent Calendar box that the lovely Melly sent me! I'll be ooooop north knee deep in snow, chickens and Christmas presents before I know it!!
My little sisters now have two ducks to add to their ever growing collection of animals - they have called them 'Pancake' and 'Bill' - I've been ordered not to take my pancakes and plum sauce anywhere near them! LOL. I get to see the new chickens / ducks / rabbits etc... when I get there. The other day my friend asked me if the chickens were for us to have for Christmas dinner, without thinking I replied "no, they just keep them for eggs and milk" and it actually took him to explain what I'd said before I realised Chickens don't make milk, sometimes I wonder..... LOL
and on that note I shall leave you snorting with laughter over my studpidness!

Tomorrow I have a mammoth trip to the post office, where I havent been feeling too good stuff has piled up somewhat but OH has promised to help me with them in the morning - yay!

Making Stuff
This weekend I actually got some time locked away in my studio making stuff - what bliss!!
Firstly a little card using My Little Shoebox papers....

and then I got round to printing off my second Christmas Journal kit and making my own journal, here are some pics!
I tied it all together with some gorgeous 'PeaPod' bakers twine from The Twinery - I only added that and some kraft cardstock! This is only the base and I have lots more to add, it needs some sparkly bits and some stamped images (my own Christmas Cheer! ones of course!) for the front and some ribbon, and of course my photos and journalling! This morning I had NINE - yes, NINE blood tests! eeeek! I think I still have a little drop left, just! I did feel a little woozy after (you can't eat for 12 hours before either) but other than that it's not been a bad day - here's hoping it lasts the rest of the week!!

Back Again!
Just looked and can't believe I haven't blogged since Thursday! I have been very busy but big apologies, that was very rubbish of me!
I must quickly mention that the lovely Lisa from my Design Team has some Blog Candy up for grabs so pop over and try your luck! (not just yet, at least pretend to be a bit interested in my comings and goings!)
The Bank Holiday weekend just whizzed past, I had a fab night with some friends on Friday, one of those unplanned things that turn into the best type of nights as you have no expectations to disappoint you, was nice to relax! The rest of the weekend was mostly working, although I did manage to track down the perfect size storage box for my Promarkers - I was so pleased! I did have them in the lovely storage thingys that Letraset sent me but I like to take them downstairs with me or to bed if I'm finishing something up so wanted something I could carry them round in- am now a very happy bunny (its the simple things, it really is!)
Today I saw the feature on me in Cardmaking & Papercraft magazine, made me do a little squeal as I ripped it open in the shop - I think the poor lady in there was slightly alarmed - she already thinks I'm a bit odd as everyday I buy cherry tictacs - they are SERIOUSLY yummy, every food should be cherry flavoured! I also saw that Woodland Whimsies was featured in the 'Ten of the Best' feature in Papercraft Inspirations which was a nice surprise as I had no idea!
I'm hoping to get some inky play time this week as I promised you some Promarker tutorials and I want to show you lots more things with my Sprays and Ink-A-Balls, which you will be seeing a LOT more of (thats all I'm saying for now...) thanks to everyone that has placed orders for them - it has kept OH out of my hair packing while I've been working on more stuff! LOL
Today is also the last day of my August Guest Designer, Sue's term, so farewell Sue! but welcome....... NICOLA, our fabby September Guest Designer who I'll be telling you a bit more about tomorrow. She will be setting next weeks challenge for us as well so look out for that, its a good one (you may want to get your Christmas Cheer CD ready, thats all I'm saying... LOL)
Now I must get on, I'm still working on my top secret project as well as scheduling some stuff for the Afternoon Tea kit clubs - you will be hearing a lot more about those soon too!

This weekend has been spent prepping for the next show (just next week, thats flown by!) this one is a bit more nerve wracking because everything is new and different, I just hope you like it! No sneak peeks remember so I hope you will tune in to watch!

Catching Up!
I have been catching up on lots of stuff, preparing for a show takes sooo long and other things tend to drift a bit so today we got the last few orders out (and then more came in, LOL) all of the Blog Hop prizes out (if you didn't get an e-mail from me to say I had sent yours then let me know!) and more DT goodies bagged up and ready to go tomorrow.
I also finally got round to photographing and putting up all of the show samples for you to see - please see the post below to see all of them, what a fab bunch of designers I have working with me! My friend who helped me to set up the show was blown away by the quality of the samples so you DT girls should all be super proud of yourselves! :)
This weeks Challenge is now up on the Challenge Blog and this week Clare has picked 'animals' for us! I've just had a quick look at the entries in (will go back later and post comments for you all) so far and am very very impressed! There is also still a couple of days to enter Sue's 'Romance' Challenge (closes midnight on Sunday)
Now on with prep for the next show - phew! I've had to literally lock away my Christmas Cheer! stamps so I don't get distracted - love them!!
