Punky Scraps - July Guest Designer

The lovely Nat at the Punky Scraps Challenge Blog asked me if I would be guest designer for her for July, and how could I refuse! The challenge blog is so fun and gave me an excuse to break out of my comfort zone a little bit and try some new (and messy!) things - the Design Team don't hold back and their layouts are some of the most bright, colourful and experimental I've seen - always inspiring!

So for my first challenge, I had to use Tissue Paper on a layout, at first I thought I would take the relatively easy way out and make some tissue paper flowers or rosettes, but then I thought I should use this opportunity to really experiment properly with a material I wouldn't normally use. Soooooo....

Here is my Tissue Paper Layout....

I used medium and scrumpled tissue paper to make my own background paper, creating lots of texture as I went and trying not to be afraid to wrinkle and crumple as I went! Once it was dry I used a blue Distress Ink (I can't remember if it was Blue Jeans or Tumbled Glass) and run the ink pad over the top gently to add some colour and highlight all the texture.

When that was dry I then got a big blob of stickles on my fingers and rubbed it all over the paper - I loved the icy snowy look it created and it matched this picture of the snowy view from my desk last winter. Kraft card was the perfect accent (it is to everything really!)

So there you have it, it's not my usual style, it was very messy, but I had tons of fun making it!!
